Trivia[]
- The precise years in which Princess Principal take place have never been explicitly stated; beyond that season 1 starts ten years after the London Revolution. The only term ever given is the "turn of the twentieth century" in the opening crawl of season 1. If the crawl is taken literally, the series starts place around 1900, while the revolution took place around 1890. Alternately, if the statement referred to the time of the revolution, when the Albion Empire was at its height, then the revolution took place around 1900, and the series around 1910.
- The mention of Port Arthur as a Japanese possession offers a potential hint as to when the series takes place. Historically, Japan acquired it in 1895 during the First Sino-Japanese War, but was forced to give it up by the Triple Intervention of Russia, Germany, and France; then acquired it again in 1905 as a result of the Russo-Japanese War.
