Crown Handler Chapter 2 is the second part of the six-part Crown Handler movie series of Princess Principal. It is the sequel to Crown Handler Chapter 1. It was released in Japanese cinemas on the 23rd of September, 2021.

Synopsis[]

Great expectations and... Assassinations!

The problem with assassinations is that bullets are cheap, fanatics are fanatical, and even when an attempt fails, there's always a chance for follow-ups. So even if the attack on Prince Richard by a supposed foreign sniper fails to put his royal highness six feet under, it soon becomes clear that it's open hunting season for Royals when assassins strike again. Now Team White Pigeon's priorities must be split between locating the deadly Cavorite Bombs smuggled into the country and protecting the second princess, Mary, the next in line... which, given that Charlotte herself is also a target and currently posing as White Pigeon's Ange, only redoubles the peril she's already found herself in! The fuses are primed, and the timers are counting down in the second shocking and explosive installment of PRINCESS PRINCIPAL: CROWN HANDLER - PART 2!

Story Summary[]

A new weapon known as a Cavorite Bomb is developed by the Commonwealth and is loaded onto the deck of battleship. The bomb is shown to have a tremendous payload, with enough power to completely destroy an armoured battleship with a single hit. The Commonwealth beat the kingdom in the arms race by successfully developing the device, however Kingdom agents were able to steal three bombs and transport them into the kingdom.

In the Kingdom, Prince Richard returns home to the Kingdom from the New World (an analogue of The United States of America). Prince Edward, Princess Mary, Princess Charlotte, the Duke of Normandy and the Queen have gathered in East London to witness and greet him. The streets of London are crowded with thousands of people who have come out to see the triumphant return of the young prince. But during the return parade, Richard gets non-fatally shot in the shoulder by a sniper of Native American appearance. The royal family is shocked to hear the news.

Following the turmoil, a mission is assigned to Dorothy and the rest of Team White Pigeon by Control to search for and retrieve the three missing Commonwealth Cavorite bombs that have been stolen by the Kingdom. Ange, Dorothy, and Chise head to the hideout of one of the men allegedly involved in the theft of a bomb and engage in a battle with the assassin who shot Prince Richard.

At this time, Princess Mary is to attend a party on a ship attended by many important figures and foreign dignitaries. But due to her young age and the pressure put on her, Mary is nervous and scared. Princess Charlotte volunteers to go with her while the rest of team White Pigeon stake out a theatre which they believe is being used to hold the stolen explosives. When the team infiltrates the theatre, they discover that only two of the three bombs are present, with the other one having been planted on the ship that Mary and Charlotte are on. Team White Pigeon rushes to the ship, and set a fire to make the attendees to evacuate while preventing a larger panic. Meawhile, Ange and Chise sneak inside the vessel and try to defuse the Cavorite bomb. Gazelle tries to evacuate Charlotte in the commotion, but Charlotte refuses to leave unless all other passengers have been evacuated. Ange succeeds in defusing the bomb right before it is about to explode.

After the incident, Charlotte returns to the royal palace to discover that Prince Edward has been assassinated. The Duke of Normandy is visibly upset and the Queen faints to the news. The Native American sniper who shot Prince Richard turns out to have been working for Richard the whole time. Richard declares to Charlotte in private that with Edward's death, he will soon be next in line. It were his men who stole the Cavorite bombs and planted them on the ship in an attempt to eliminate Mary and make Richard first-in-line. Richard professes that he intends to bring about major change to the country, and the movie ends with Richard asking if Charlotte would join him in his goals.
