The meme makes even MORE sense when you realize that the person who created Girls und Panzer also (apparently) created Princess Principal.

According to Tv tropes.com, the final scene depicts the girls wearing old-fashioned swimwear, yet a few pages in Spy and Seek depicts the girls wearing what CLEARLY aren’t old-fashioned.

We all want to know which year the show takes place. Important to note is that this is an alternate universe: some events mentioned in the franchise actually happened in real life history, although the years these events took place could possibly not be the same in both universes.

So we know the franchise takes place on the turn of the 20th century. This meaning: at least in the year 1900. We never get a true date for when the show takes place, but a few other years can be found mentioned throughout the franchise.

From recent to old:

• '''1880''' - a bottle marked with the year 1880 is visible in S1E5 around the 21:10 timestamp.

• '''1847''' - in this year The Albion Morning, an Albion newspaper, was established. It can be seen around the 38:17 mark of the first movie.

• '''1778''' - mentioned in a newspaper in the first movie around the 39:25 timestamp. A company, selling linen drapers (to the [[Queen]]), was established. Exact text: "LINENDRAPERS TO THE QUEEN BY APPOINTMENT - Established in 1778"

• '''1720''' - This actually possibly mentions the year 1920 since the writing isn't very clear, although the font style suggest it probably says 1720. It is mentioned on a charter of the Amicable Society For Life Assurance in S1E1. If it does say 1720, it is not quite clear what it mentions. Possibly the establishments of the society? Although in actuality the society was established in 1706.
